"Nut'N Fancy - An FXR Extrodinaire"

The ever-popular Harley-Davidson FXR is now somewhat rare, compared to other models, but it's still a viable customizing platform. Its smooth ride and low vibration made it perfect for long-distance riding, or for grocery-getting, for that matter. Its rubber-mounted motorwas unique when it was first introduced, but now it seems that, with a few notable exceptions, most everything is rubber-mounted.

This Rowe-framed FXR-style motorcycle, owned by Nottingham, Maryland's Mike Daniels, goes by "Nut 'n' Fancy." The name is contradictory, though: this bike is indeed fancy. C&C Cycle spent six months fabricating and assembling Mike's bike, and they finished it in fabulous super-bright Tangelo Pearl.

A TP Engineering Evo-style V-Twin displacing 114" gives Mike's motorcycle nimble light-to-light performance on surface streets and plenty of top-cog cruising power on the interstate. Horsepower? Try 115, with 120 ft.-Ibs. of torque at the rear wheel! A naturally aspirated, beautifully polished Mikuni carburetor feeds that big motor mix on demand.

A 2001 RevTech gear box, complete with a nicely polished case, shifts from the middle of the primary (controls by Performance Machine, Harley-Davidson and C&C Cycle) to move the ponies to the rear wheel. The primary drive is a stock Harley item. The Rowe frame has had two full inches added to the backbone; the neck rake is a middle-of-the-road 33 degrees. The motor is uniquely mounted with an FXD (Dyna Glide) front mount and a standard FXRstyle rear mount. The smooth frame has been entirely molded.

For steering, a Ceriani 55mm fork assembly does the trick, and it's attached to the frame via a set of C&C Cycle modified triple clamps. A 17" Performance Machine wheel with a Metzeler rubber donut are more than at home in this front fork. The rear wheel, also a 17" Performance Machine item, is paired with a fat 200mm tire, also from Metzeler. Brake calipers and rotors front and rear are from Performance Machine. The fenders are from Jesse James, with proprietary C&C Cycle modifications.

A Paul Yaffe Originals tail light and Yaffe license plate mount with C&C mods have been installed on the left side of the rear axle. The gas tank has been stretched and Frenched to fit the frame juncture, as have the rear fender and air dam. The cylinder heads and cylinders, powder coated by Sumax, have been diamond cut, as if we didn't notice.
